If you’ve mastered at least some of the basic settings of your digital camera you’ll enjoy our introductory Garden Photography Workshops for improver and enthusiast photographers. The workshops cover most popular garden photography subjects, including flowers, garden landscapes, abstracts and architecture. You’ll also be introduced to the beauty of close-up photography, opening up a whole new world of fascinating subjects for your camera (specialist equipment is not required).
These relaxed, informal workshops are designed to give a jargon-free introduction to useful techniques in garden photography. You’ll learn how to improve your photographs by taking control of your camera settings, what to include in your photographs (and what to leave out), how to make the most of colour and, most importantly, we’ll help you to appreciate the different qualities of light.
The gardens we’ve chosen use for our workshops are specially selected for their variety of potential subjects and for their welcome hospitality. New gardens are regularly added to our portfolio. Please let us know if you can recommend any other gardens to us.
The introductory Garden Photography Workshop starts with a brief presentation followed by two practical teaching sessions, a review of your images and a Q&A session where we’ll answer any questions that may have arisen during the day. Our small group format ensures that you will receive quality one to one time with your tutor at different points during the day.
Although the outline format of the day is structured so as to follow a similar pattern each time, in practice every workshop is unique – different gardens, different seasons and different weather provide us with varied opportunities and challenges every time. Even if you’ve already been on this workshop in one garden, you can expect to pick up different tips and skills by choosing another workshop in a different garden or at a different time of year. You’ll know from experience that you’ll have a great day out too!
You’ll find more information on the different gardens and what you can expect to photograph there under The Gardens header.
